Event Description

EXERCISE DARK SQUEEZE (AEMA Tasking Number: 2011-074)

Registration is now closed.  Walk-in registrations will be accepted at check in if you are a caver or SAR volunteer from the local area (Lethbridge, Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass, Sparwood, Fernie).  If you have questions, contact the coordinator.

Joining Instructions (exercise details) are located on the ACRO wiki.

Almost 100 participants from over 45 organizations have signed up to take part in this exciting inter-provincial multi-agency Search and Rescue exercise!

This AEMA supported event will test and illustrate the emergency response community's ability to work together in a large multi-agency incident in remote locations. The realistic scenario brings responders along the trails, flanks, heights and caves of Mount Ptolemy. You will exercise a broad range of rescue, back country, alpine, cave, logistical and management skills.

The Crowsnest Pass area contains incredible karst, caving and mountainous terrain.  Gargantua Cave is a popular trip with cavers, tourists, hikers, scout and school groups.  The cave also spans the border with British Columbia so it’s also a great chance to work with cavers, rescue and SAR teams from British Columbia.

ACRO appreciates the support of SAR Alberta and AEMA (Alberta Emergency Management Agency) in being able to conduct this exercise as well as the participating organizations from across Alberta and British Columbia.

If you need to cancel your registration, please do so on ITM and send a message to dark-squeeze@castrov.cuug.ab.ca

If you need to change your registration information, please print the 3-page form, update your information and bring it with you to the exercise.  The form is found at http://bit.ly/jVLgy6

Course Description
